Delight in these Triple Chocolate Puff Pastry Twists featuring layers of creamy chocolate hazelnut spread, semi-sweet, and white chocolate chips wrapped in flaky puff pastry and baked to golden perfection. Perfect as a decadent snack or dessert, these twists combine a crispy texture with rich chocolate flavors for a truly irresistible treat.

Ingredients

Basic Ingredients:

  • 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed)
  • 1/2 cup chocolate hazelnut spread (like Nutella)
  • 1/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup white chocolate chips
  • 1 egg (beaten)
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Puff Pastry: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the thawed puff pastry sheet into a rectangle about 1/8 inch thick. If the pastry is sticky, dust lightly with flour to prevent sticking.
  2. Add the Filling: Evenly spread 1/2 cup of chocolate hazelnut spread over half of the puff pastry rectangle, leaving about a 1-inch border around the edges. Sprinkle 1/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips and 1/4 cup white chocolate chips evenly over the spread.
  3. Fold and Cut: Fold the other half of the pastry over the filled portion, pressing down gently to seal the edges. Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, cut the folded pastry into strips about 1 inch wide. For a decorative look, twist each strip several times before placing them on the lined baking sheet.
  4. Bake the Twists: Brush the tops of the twists with the beaten egg to achieve a beautiful golden color when baked. Place the twists on the prepared baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes or until they are golden brown and puffed up.
  5. Drizzle and Serve: Remove the twists from the oven and let them cool slightly. Optionally, melt additional chocolate and drizzle it over the twists for an extra chocolatey touch. Dust with powdered sugar if desired and serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • Ensure the puff pastry is fully thawed for easier rolling and folding.
  • For a nut-free option, substitute chocolate hazelnut spread with plain chocolate spread or jam.
  • Use a sharp knife or pizza cutter for clean, even strips to prevent tearing.
  • Twist the strips gently but firmly to avoid breaking the pastry.
  • Allow twists to cool slightly before drizzling with chocolate to prevent melting.
