Ingredients

For the Dip

  • 1 package cream cheese softened
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 1 can refried beans 16 ounce

For the Spiderweb

  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon taco seasoning

Optional Toppings

  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup sliced black olives
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cream Cheese Mixture: In a medium bowl, mix together the softened cream cheese, 1 cup of sour cream, and 1 packet of taco seasoning until well combined and smooth.
  2. Layer Refried Beans: Spread the entire can of refried beans evenly over the bottom of a serving dish, creating a smooth base layer.
  3. Add Cream Cheese Layer: Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the refried beans layer in the serving dish.
  4. Mix the Spiderweb Topping: In a small bowl, combine 1/4 cup sour cream with 1 tablespoon taco seasoning and mix well. Transfer this mixture into a piping bag or a plastic bag with a small corner snipped off for easy piping.
  5. Create the Spiderweb Design: Pipe concentric circles of the sour cream mixture onto the dip, starting from the center and working outward evenly across the surface.
  6. Form the Spiderweb Pattern: Using a toothpick or skewer, drag lines from the center of the dip outward through the concentric circles to create a spiderweb effect.
  7. Add Optional Toppings: Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese, sliced black olives, and chopped cilantro over the top to add color and extra flavor.
  8. Serve: Serve the dip immediately with your favorite tortilla chips or crackers for dipping.

Notes

  • Make sure the cream cheese is softened at room temperature to ensure smooth mixing.
  • Use a sturdy serving dish to hold the layers without cracking.
  • If taco seasoning packets are not available, use about 2 tablespoons of homemade taco seasoning.
  • For a spicier dip, add a dash of hot sauce into the cream cheese mixture.
  • You can prepare the dip a few hours ahead and refrigerate; add the spiderweb topping just before serving to keep the design fresh.
  • Serve with a variety of chips or fresh vegetable sticks for a healthier option.
